Intern

The Centre is currently accepting applications for interns who will assist the RHSC in promoting awareness of the human security agenda in West Asia (which includes North Africa, the Middle East, and Afghanistan and Pakistan) through both research and administrative work.

Interns are expected to support the staff member to whom they are assigned.  Depending on the work of this staff member, their responsibilities may include serving as a research assistant to RHSC researchers; editing and proofreading the work of researchers; drafting, editing, and proofreading the official correspondence of the Centre; assisting in the organization of local and regional program conferences, workshops, policy forums, training sessions, summer school sessions, and any other events of the Centre; assisting with logistical support to RHSC guests, including travel and lodging arrangements; and assisting in Arabic / English translation and interpretation.  Internships are unpaid and can be negotiated to fit a time period appropriate for the candidate.

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in political science, economics, sociology, history, international relations, Arab/Middle Eastern studies or a related discipline; current undergraduate students are also encouraged to apply. The individual will have some research experience in one of the four clusters, the ability to undertake projects with minimal supervision, and a self-starter personality. Excellent English language ability is required and Arabic language ability a definite plus.

These positions are ideal for the current student or recent graduate who seeks to gain experience while living in a vibrant Middle Eastern capital. Interested candidates should demonstrate their qualifications for the above responsibilities by submitting their CV/resume and a letter of interest to the address below by email, post or fax.  Please reference the position in the subject line of the email or fax.
